This annotated bibliography on women's education in the developing nations of Africa, Asia, Latin America, the Caribbean, and the Middle East is an important contribution to women's studies. About 1200 works in five languages are included. Items are organized topically and geographically. The works listed cover education per se, as well as its effect on women in the social, economic, and political spheres. The difference between this and other bibliographies on education in Third World countries is that it lists only works in which women are central rather than marginal. This change in emphasis is detailed in "New Directions," which analyzes new methodologies and fields of research.- Frada L. Mozenter, Univ. of North Carolina at Charlotte Lib.Copyright 1989 Reed Business Information, Inc.
