Millions of readers have thrilled by bestselling authors Bill O’Reilly and historian Martin Dugard's Killing Kennedy and Killing Lincoln, page-turning works of nonfiction that have changed the way we read history. Now the anchor of The O’Reilly Factor details the events leading up to the murder of the most influential man in history: Jesus of Nazareth. Nearly two thousand years after this beloved and controversial young revolutionary was brutally killed by Roman soldiers, more than 2.2 billion human beings attempt to follow his teachings and believe he is God. Killing Jesus will take readers inside Jesus’s life, recounting the seismic political and historical events that made his death inevitable – and changed the world forever.

I wish this was longer, it is a great read

I have enjoyed the other “Killing” books I have read, but I had yet to read Killing Jesus. This was such a great read. I am so glad to have picked this one up. I know the Gospels and have been a Christian for years, but this book added more to my knowledge. The authors start with a dive into the culture at the time of Jesus’ birth therefore there is some background on Roman history. I really enjoyed this section of the book since sometimes it is hard to connect the history you are taught in classes versus the history of the Bible and this book helps connect the time lines. While this book does follow a lot of the Gospel story lines leading up to Jesus’ crucifixion, there is a lot added about the culture at the time as well as some additional explanations that come from other sources such as Eusebius and Josephus. The authors also give explanations about some of the procedures of Jewish law and the tense relationship between the Jewish people and the Romans. I personally really enjoyed this story and I am glad to have picked it up. It is a short read but it adds context and background to a familiar story. Read more
