The Art of Fashion is a richly illustrated, broad overview of the history of the art. It follows la mode from the age of Louis XIV, who put fashion at the service of the state, to the growth of the department store in the nineteenth century, and from the continued rise of the designers and creators in the twentieth century to globalized trends of the twenty-first.
