Editorial cartoonist Robert Graysmith's 1976 true-crime work provides an objective, balanced account of Zodiac, the serial killer who terrorized the San Francisco area in the late '60s. He was responsible for at least 37 sadistic killings and, as of the writing of this book, has never been positively identified. Through official records and interviews with witnesses and Zodiac survivors, Graysmith builds a case credible enough to speculate about the most likely suspect. Stefan Rudnicki's narration is intelligent, engaging, and intriguing. His voice commands attention. Although there's no quick-fix solution (as on TV crime shows), Rudnicki makes listening satisfying and, even in lengthy lab reports, keeps things edgy. Graysmith's next is ZODIAC UNMASKED (2007).
