Gr 7 Up-This book is clear, concise, perhaps a tad dry, but to the point. An asterisk appears next to experiments that could easily be adapted for science-fair projects, and Gardner admonishes young scientists to expand on these projects, not copy them straight from the book. Chapters are divided into topics such as "Mendel, Genes, Chromosomes, and Models" and "The Chemistry of Genes," and each chapter has anywhere from 3 to 10 projects listed. Useful charts and diagrams appear throughout. In communities in which science fairs are stressed, this book would be a logical, sound addition.Laura Younkin, Ballard High School, Louisville, KYCopyright 2001 Cahners Business Information, Inc.
