The Neighbours Book 1

Set in a small English seaside town, The Neighbours Book 1 is the first part of a story about the inhabitants of Beeches Avenue, a small road of new houses built just after the war. The Fieldings are the first family to move in. Matthew Fielding has come back from the war a changed man, and his wife Stella and children, Robert, Julian, Nicky and Sue find him very difficult to live with. Nicky takes refuge next door where handicapped Gracie Bowles and her parents have moved in. They own the local fish and chip shop and Stella considers them 'not quite her class'.
