From School Library Journal Grade 3-6-Written in clear and simple sentences, appropriate for both younger readers and children with reading challenges, these titles offer basic information about the history and lifestyles of the particular Native culture, with an emphasis on the people in today's world. Each volume begins with a map that notes the historical tribal location and fast facts on housing, food, clothing, and language. Topics covered include history, government, and beliefs. Each book also includes a legend. Since these subjects are dealt with in a single page of text, no more than an overview is presented. The full-page, color photographs are attractive, but largely decorative. A recipe or craft concludes each volume. Consider these offerings where the need for additional titles on Native Americans is great.
