Austrian Gustav Klimt is known for his sensuous, golden prtraits of women, and of course for his most reproduced painting, The Kiss. In Galison's Klimt Mother and Child keepsake box of cards, details of four Klimt paintings are reproduced on four cards each. The subjects of the paintings range from Expectation (c. 1905-09, Austrian Museum of Applied Arts, Vienna) to The Kiss (1907-08, Oesterreichische Galerie Belvedere, Vienna) and Fulfillment (c.1905-09, Austrian Museum of Applied Arts) , to the final tender depiction of a sleeping mother and small child, a detail from The Three Ages of Women, (1905, Galleria Nazionale d'Arte Moderna, Rome) . The sturdy decorative box holds cards and envelopes neatly, and when the cards have been sent, it's great for storing all sorts of little things - from extra buttons to pearls.
