Hero, big shot, swinger. That was Matt Emmons, lawyer for Charley Troy, the most powerful and ruthless character assassin in town. At least, that was how Matt Emmons thought of himself. Even Troy thought of Matt that way, and so did Lydia, Matt's taunting mistress. So did a lot of other people in the corrupt world of what was politely called Public Relations. It took a drunken, whoring, redheaded starlet to strip Matt naked and show him what he really was. "You're dirt," the startlet told him. "You and Troy are two of a kind. You're cold and heartless and brutal, or you wouldn't be here, licking Troy's boots and running his errands and backing him up in every dirty, rotten scheme he thinks of." That was the beginning of Matt Emmons' escape to love--and murder... From inside front Hellcat! He looked at her. She was small, red-haired, with a piquant face flushed by too much liquor and stained with tears. She was wearing a green dinner gown of some shimmering material, cut very low to expose the fullness of her breasts, a strapless dress that showed a lipstick smear on her shoulder and a long livid scratch on her back. Her eyes were frightening in the intensity of her emotion. "Rat," she whispered. He was not prepared for her attack. Her longs nails raked at his face and her soft weight drove him back against the door again. He caught at her wrists, feeling a silver bracelet crunch painfully into the girl's wristbones. She cried out and tore herself free, standing there before him breathing in deep gasps, her dress ripped half from her body.
