From School Library Journal Grade 1-2–An original story based on the fairy-tale characters of the wolf and the pig, paired off here as friends. The writing is engaging and humorous, with plenty of entertaining dialogue. The ink-and-watercolor cartoon art matches the story well and has enough detail to hold children's interest. The illustrations and text are balanced so that the latter will not be overwhelming to beginning readers. Wheeler does a good job of portraying classic enemies as friends, which allows them to transcend the barriers conventional society may have erected between them. The extensive dialogue and simple vocabulary make this book a good independent read. Youngsters who are developing confidence in their ability will appreciate the chapter-book format. The underlying connection to fairy tales will easily spark a sense of familiarity to which children will respond.
