Children's Literature
- Lois Rubin Gross
There is a point where a book of historical fiction and adventure can jump the line between plausible and ridiculous. This book not only jumps the line, it pole vaults with the skill of an Olympian. From the truly offensive front cover (the giant swastika covering the globe actually made me embarrassed to carry the book in public), to the story line in which two refugee teenagers wipe out an entire company of seasoned Nazi soldiers, Hitler's Secret hits every action movie cliche that was seen in the entire Indiana Jones franchise. Jewish Rebecca (now Leni) and political refugee Conrad (now Otto) parachute into Nazi Germany to abduct Hitler's secret daughter who is being held in an island convent by highly unpleasant nuns.
