Over the sighing of the sea, Martine heard a tremendous splashing. What she saw next took her breath away. Through the wild waves came a hundred dolphins, their silhouettes outlined in silver. They were leaping, dancing, and cavorting, and their silvery arcs, freeze-framed against the midnight ocean and the scudding storm clouds, were beyond beautiful. As they drew nearer, she could hear them communicating with one another and it sounded to her like music, like singing.
