A Soldier's Words contains a collection of blogs written by Major Andrew Olmsted during his tour of duty in Iraq. The blogs describe day-to-day events-funny, boring, dangerous, frustrating- that ultimately become satisfying as he and his men come to understand the Iraqi culture and establish a friendly working relationship with the Iraqi men they are training. More importantly, as time passes, Major Olmsted develops a deep understanding of the pros and cons of the war and his part in it. He was looking forward to the end of his tour when he was killed by a sniper's bullet on January 3, 2008.
