Guide to English Literature from Beowulf through Chaucer and Medieval Drama

The aim of this book is to provide a comparatively brief survey of Old and Middle English literature and to indicate some of the directions of recent scholarship and criticism. An important feature of this book is its carefully annotated bibliographies. The bibliographies and the text may be used independently; both have been prepared to complement and reinforce each other.
