I chose the Oxford dictionary because at university the Oxford Dictionary of the English language (OED) is the gold standard. I figured that the Oxford Russian/English would be just as good. It is very useful for a language student. If you cannot read Cyrillic and have no knowledge of Russian spelling rules then it will be difficult for an English speaker to know how to pronounce the Russian words correctly (or at all). But any student of Russian will find it an extremely helpful tool. An added bonus is a section on culture; Russian culture, American culture and British culture. As an American, I actually found the British culture section as enlightening as the Russian section. The "phrase finder" section also comes in handy. I would definitely recommend this dictionary.
